Press Release  Four Teens Arraigned in Haverhill Mill Fire

Haverhill, Massachusetts — Four Haverhill juveniles were arraigned today at Lawrence Juvenile Court in connection with 2 fires at 30 Stevens Street in Haverhill on September 16th and September 20th.  The four juveniles were ordered held without bail by Judge Jose Sanchez.  The juveniles were held pending a dangerousness hearing scheduled for September 30, 2015.

The charges are as follows:

  • A 15-year old male is charged with Burning a Building and Breaking & Entering in the Daytime with intent to Commit a Felony.
  • A 14-year old male is charged with Burning a Building, Burning a Dwelling, and Breaking & Entering in the Daytime with intent to Commit a Felony.
  • A 15- and a 16-year old males are charged with 2 counts of Burning a Building; Burning a Dwelling and 2 counts of Breaking & Entering in the Daytime with intent to Commit a Felony.

On September 16th at approximately 2:20 pm, the Haverhill Fire Department responded to a fire at 30 Stevens Street in Haverhill.  The fire was contained to a small area in the abandoned building and was deemed suspicious.

On September 20th at approximately 4:55 pm, the Haverhill Fire Department responded to a fire at the same location.  The fire was large and required the efforts of 30 area Fire Departments over three day to suppress the fire.  During the course of the fire, a nearby residential building at 9 Granville Court, sustained damage and the property at 30 Stevens Street was destroyed.

No further information be released due to the fact that the allegations involve juveniles.  They are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
