Press Release  Frye pleads guilty, sent to prison

PITTSFIELDA Pittsfield man pleaded guilty this afternoon in Berkshire Superior Court to several charges. 45 year old GREGORY A. FRYE appeared before Judge John Agostini.

FRYE pleaded guilty to one (1) count of ILLEGAL POSSESSION OF A FIREARM (2nd offense) and one (1) count of ARMED CAREER FELON. Judge Agostini ordered that he serve a 6 to 9 year state prison sentence the Massachusetts Correctional Institution at Cedar Junction on the charge of ARMED CAREER FELON. FRYE was given a concurrent 5 to 7 year state prison sentence on the other charge.

FRYE was in possession of a firearm when he was arrested in Williamstown for a parole violation. The incident occurred on January 9, 2017.

One (1) count of ILLEGAL POSSESSION OF A LOADED FIREARM was dismissed at the request of the Commonwealth.

The investigation was conducted by members of the Pittsfield, Williamstown and North Adams Police Departments, Massachusetts Parole Officers and the Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section.
