Hampden Superior Court Probation Officers interacted with attendees and probationers with court-ordered curfews at the Eastern States Exposition on Monday, September 22nd, as part of the Massachusetts Probation Service's community engagement efforts. Approximately 1.5 million attended this year’s fair, according to the Big E website.

The Hampden Superior Probation staff also demonstrated its ability to have “positive and meaningful interactions” with the community, according to Hampden Superior Court Chief Probation Officer Rosa Maldonado-Brown.

“The POs interacted with the community and any probationers they encountered while at the fair and worked to ensure that they were not only staying in compliance with pertinent court orders such as curfews; but, were made aware of MPS and Trial Court resources that would benefit them and their families,” said Chief Maldonado-Brown.

Among the Hampden Superior staff who participated are Associate Probation Officer (APO)s: Dalyn Andrews and Sean Cavanaugh; Probation Officer (PO)s Tatiana Gervacio-Rosario, John Sandillo, Christopher Medina, Brennan Cooper, and Tania Jacobs; and First Assistant Chief Probation Officer (FACPO) Marcus Cameron.

The popular annual fair is the largest on the East Coast, according to its website. Each year, the fair honors local cities and towns by naming each day after a community. Monday was “Springfield Day.”

Commonly referred to as the Big E, the 17-day event features attractions from all of the six New England states. Big E highlights include headline acts, a big parade, food, crafts, agricultural shows, and educational displays.
