Press Release  Haverhill Man Arrested for Murder

Haverhill, Massachusetts — Essex District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett and Haverhill Police Chief Alan DeNaro announced today that a suspect has been arrested for the murder of a 40-year old Haverhill man.

Carlos Manel Rivera (DOB: 12/22/1978) of Haverhill was arrested early this afternoon by Massachusetts State Police and Haverhill Police.  He will be arraigned for murder tomorrow in Haverhill District Court.

On Sunday May 6, 2018, Haverhill Police responded to multiple 911 calls regarding shots fired near Emerson Street and Grand Ave at approximately 10:45 pm.  Responding officers located a male victim, Jeffrey Larkin, lying in the street with a bullet wound in his chest.  He was transported to Holy Family Hospital in Haverhill where he was pronounced deceased.  Through the course of the investigation, police learned that the defendant and the victim were acquainted with one another and it was not a random shooting.

Sky Stefanelli, 25, was indicted by an Essex County Grand Jury today for Accessory After the Fact.  A Superior Court arraignment date has not been scheduled. 

Mr. Rivera and Ms. Stefanelli are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
