Nine men and women will be recognized for reaching important milestones during a Client Recognition Ceremony at the Haverhill Community Justice Support Center, 100 Main Street, on Friday at noon.

The event’s theme is based on a poem by Canadian poet and illustrator Rupi Kaur: “You do not just wake up and become the butterfly. Growth is a process.” A live butterfly exhibit will be displayed at the ceremony. The center staff oversaw the metamorphosis stages of live caterpillars turning into butterflies at the site. The butterflies will be placed in a tent on Friday at the center for attendees to interact with and admire.

Yardley Theolien, Regional Program Manager, who helped coordinate the celebration along with center staff, said the butterflies symbolize growth and progression.

The Haverhill CJCS is one of 18 centers across the state. The centers are managed by the Office of Community Corrections, a division of the Massachusetts Probation Service. The centers collaborate with community- based partners to deliver treatment, education, career counseling, and clinical case management as an alternative to jail and prison. The centers also provide a statewide network of re-entry services for those returning to the community after a period of incarceration.
