Press Release  Honiker pleads guilty, sent to state prison

PITTSFIELDA Lee man pleaded guilty this afternoon in Berkshire Superior Court to several charges.  30 year old JOSHUA J. HONIKER appeared before Judge Maureen Hogan. 

HONIKER pleaded guilty to one (1) count of POSSESSION OF HEROIN WITH INTENT TO DISTRIBUTE, one (1) count of ARMED CAREER FELON, one (1) count of ILLEGAL OWNERSHIP OF A FIREARM, RIFLE OR SHOTGUN and one (1) count of POSSESSION OF COCAINE (2nd offense).  Judge Hogan ordered that he serve concurrent 3 to 4 year state prison sentences at the Massachusetts Correctional Institution at Cedar Junction on the charges of POSSESSION OF HEROIN WITH INTENT TO DISTRIBUTE and ARMED CAREER FELON.  HONIKER was given a 1 year concurrent house of correction sentence on the POSSESSION OF COCAINE (2nd offense) charge.  He was placed on probation for 1 year on the firearm charge on the condition HONIKER remain drug and alcohol free and undergo testing and counseling during the probationary period.    

The charges stem from a disturbance in Lee on September 5, 2017. 

One (1) count of POSSESSION OF A FIREARM DURING THE COMMISSION OF A FELONY was dismissed at the request of the Commonwealth. 

The investigation was conducted by members of the Lee Police Department.
