Lynn, MAA former Lowell man was convicted of killing a Lynn man in 2014 last week following a 10-day trial in Salem Superior Court.  He was also found guilty of carrying a firearm without a license. 

Judge Janice Howe sentenced Hector Diaz Emiliano, a/k/a Nelson J. Rodriguez Figueroa, to life without parole after the jury found him guilty of first-degree murder on November 18th

Essex Assistant District Attorneys Jessica Strasnick and Lindsay Nasson introduced evidence that proved that the defendant shot Omar Ortiz Lopez, 35, in the head, on November 29, 2014, outside of the Harbor View Apartments on Sagamore Street in Lynn. 

The defendant fled the country.  U.S. Marshalls arrested him in January of 2018 in Puerto Rico.

ADAs Strasnick and Nasson were assisted by Essex Victim Witness Advocate Maria Arroyo-Long.  They commended Massachusetts State Police Trooper Matt Wilson, Lynn Police Detective Paul Galetis, and U.S. Marshall Neil Sullivan for their work on the investigation and apprehension of the defendant.
