Cape & Islands District Attorney Michael O’Keefe announced today that on January 9, 2019 , Luke Stratton (DOB: 9/17/92) of South Dennis plead guilty in the Barnstable Superior court to felony indictments for Involuntary Manslaughter and Distribution of Fentanyl.

The Honorable Robert C. Rufo sentenced Stratton to 2.5 to 3 years in state prison on the Manslaughter conviction and 3 years probation from and after the committed portion of the sentence on the Distribution of Fentanyl conviction.

The charges stem from an incident in March of 2017 in which Stratton provided fentanyl to an acquaintance, with knowledge the acquaintance had previously overdosed numerous times.  That same day, the acquaintance again overdosed and subsequently died as a result of acute fentanyl and alcohol intoxication resulting from injecting the fentanyl provided by Stratton.

The case was investigated by the Yarmouth Police and Massachusetts State Police.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Nicole Manoog.
