Lynn District Court staff worked alongside community service crew members in the clean up of Barry Park and the Northern Strand Bike Path which runs behind the park located on Boston Street.
Participants included Lynn District Court Presiding Justice Ina Howard Hogan, Judge Sarah Joss, and her son, Peter Joss, Assistant Chief Probation Officer Tara Yaffi, and Head Administrative Assistant Lisa D'Urso and Lynn District Court Chief Probation Officer G. Joseph Pennucci.
"Our participation in the clean-up demonstrates to the community service clients that Trial Court employees are also invested in our community as well," said G. Joseph Pennucci.
The Massachusetts Trial Court Community Service Program is a division of the Massachusetts Probation Service's Office of Community Corrections.
Justice-involved clients are transported from the centers or courts to project sites where they perform a range of tasks such as trash pick-up along streets and highways as well as beaches and waterways; set-up of classrooms for the school year by moving furniture and painting walls; delivery of food from restaurants and colleges for distribution to homeless shelters and half-way houses; stocking and distributing food at local soup kitchens; and the placement of flags at the gravesites of hundreds of veterans.
