Lynn, MAA grand jury has indicted a Lynn man for a shooting spree that left one man dead and five others injured.

This morning, an Essex County Grand Jury indicted Darwin Mejia, 22, on one count each of Murder, Carrying a Firearm without a License, Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device and 5 counts each of Armed Assault with Intent to Murder and Assault & Battery with a Dangerous Weapon.

On Saturday, December 26, 2020 at approximately 5:35pm, Lynn Police responded to the area of Quincy Terrace after receiving numerous calls for gunshots.  Officers located six victims with gunshot wounds in the area.  Four victims were transported to Massachusetts General Hospital and two were transported to Salem Hospital. Gustavo Santana, 31, of Lynn, was pronounced dead later that evening.

The defendant remains held without bail and will be arraigned in Salem Superior Court at a later date.

Indictments are allegations and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
