Media Contact for Man charged in Superior Court with murder

Pittsfield — A Bronx, NY, man was arraigned Wednesday in Berkshire County Superior Court on the charge of murder.
Lance Burke, 40, was charged in the Nov. 3, 2018, shooting death of David Green Jr., 30, of Pittsfield. Burke is accused of shooting Green in the neck while Green sat in a pickup truck near Spring and Willow streets in Pittsfield. Green died a few days later.
“Today’s homicide arraignment is the result of a rigorous investigation by the Pittsfield Police Department and strong teamwork between law enforcement and prosecutors,” Berkshire District Attorney Andrea Harrington said. “My job is to seek justice for victims and their families. My office will continue to prosecute this case with competence and integrity.”
A pre-trial hearing in the case was set on Wednesday for September 9th. Burke was held without bail.
A Berkshire County grand jury handed down an indictment last week charging Burke with first-degree murder, carrying a firearm without a license and carrying a loaded firearm. Members of the Pittsfield Police Department Detective Bureau and Anti-Crime Unit, New York City Police Department and Federal Bureau of Investigation arrested Burke on a warrant in the Bronx on Nov. 20, 2018, following an thorough investigation that spanned two states by the Pittsfield Police Department, including Detective Jeff Arena, and State Police detectives assigned to the Berkshire District Attorney’s Office.
First Assistant District Attorney Karen Bell is assigned as lead prosecutor in the case for the Berkshire District Attorney’s Office.
Adults in Massachusetts that are convicted of first-degree murder face a sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole.
