PITTSFIELDA West Hartford, Connecticut man pleaded guilty this morning in Berkshire Superior Court to drug charges.  36 year old MICHAEL A. MARTIN appeared before Judge John Agostini. 

MARTIN pleaded guilty to one (1) count of POSSESSION OF HEROIN WITH INTENT TO DISTRIBUTE, one (1) count of POSSESSION OF COCAINE WITH INTENT TO DISTRIBUTE and one (1) count of DRUG VIOLATION WITHIN A DRUG FREE SCHOOL ZONE.  Judge Agostini ordered that he serve concurrent 1 day sentences to the Berkshire County House of Correction on the drug charges.  MARTIN was given a 5 to 7 year state prison sentence at the Massachusetts Correctional Institution at Cedar Junction, to be served on and after the first sentence, on the SCHOOL ZONE charge.                        

The charges stem from the execution of a search warrant at 79 Lincoln Street, Pittsfield, on March 25, 2016.   

The investigation was conducted by members of the Pittsfield, North Adams and Dalton Police Departments, the Berkshire County Sheriff’s Department and state troopers assigned to the District Attorney’s Office, members of the Berkshire Law Enforcement Task Force.
