This inaugural session, titled Conversation with the Commissioner, provided an opportunity for Commissioner Ifill to discuss his vision and outline the agency’s three top priorities:

  • Comprehensively reviewing all MPS policies and procedures, such as the Critical Incident Policy; ORAS Standards and Forms for the Risk/Need Classification System; and all local office policies.
  • Building a strategy for community engagement that will include the allocation of funding for planning meetings as well as court and community-based events.
  • Improving employee morale and satisfaction through leadership development and training and enhancing employee engagement and support across all roles and responsibilities.

“This webinar format is the first step toward creating a forum to help us communicate at a broader level with MPS employees and hear their questions and concerns,” said Commissioner Pamerson Ifill. “The Executive Team and I value employee input and ideas and look forward to working together to further enhance MPS for our employees and clients.”

Commissioner Ifill's Executive Team includes: Michael Coelho, Deputy Commissioner-Programs; Dianne Fasano, First Deputy Commissioner; Nina Pomponio, General Counsel; Yvonne Roland, Deputy Commissioner-Administrative Services; and Brian Mirasolo, Deputy Commissioner-Field Services.

Questions submitted by MPS employees in advance of the webinar touched on a range of topics, including operational matters such as hiring, review and changes to standards, staffing issues, and transparency in the promotional process.

The next Conversation with the Commissioner will take place in the spring. In the meantime, Commissioner Ifill and members of the team are planning visits to Probation offices and Community Justice Support Centers (CJSC) across the state. The Commissioner has completed 30 visits so far and will visit courts in western Massachusetts beginning in March.
