BOSTON — The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) announced today that Undersecretary of Transportation and State Highway Administrator Jonathan Gulliver has been inducted into to the National Academy of Construction (NAC). Founded in 1999, the NAC brings together accomplished leaders in the engineering and construction fields from across the country to share their collective experience and expertise in advancement of the profession.

Election by peers to the Academy is considered a significant professional distinction and recognizes individuals for their contributions in areas including safety, technology, work-process improvements, and the successful delivery of major capital projects. Members are also selected for their leadership, professional integrity, and commitment to sharing best practices and innovative approaches that can benefit the industry.

The Academy represents the full range of construction industry stakeholders, including owners, designers, construction managers, general and specialty contractors, attorneys, financial professionals, labor leaders, suppliers, academic leaders and researchers, journalists and editors, and professional and trade association executives. Membership is by invitation only, with the Academy drawing on the knowledge and leadership of its members to strengthen the construction industry and serve the nation through advancing innovation and best practices.

“Jonathan Gulliver is one of the most experienced and respected transportation leaders in the country, and this recognition is incredibly well deserved,” said Governor Maura Healey. “He has led some of the largest and most complex transportation projects in Massachusetts, helped us deliver major improvements across the state and set a high standard for public service. We are fortunate to have his leadership on our team, and I’m proud to congratulate him on this tremendous honor.”

“Jonathan has spent his career turning ambitious transportation projects into real improvements for the people and communities we serve,” said Lieutenant Governor Kim Driscoll. “His leadership, expertise and ability to deliver have made a lasting impact across Massachusetts. This national recognition is a testament to that record, and I’m thrilled to congratulate him on this well-earned achievement.”

“Undersecretary Gulliver has made significant contributions to transportation infrastructure across the Commonwealth, delivering some of the largest and most complex capital projects during his record-setting tenure leading the Highway Division,” said Interim Transportation Secretary Phillip Eng. “I’m pleased to congratulate Jonathan on this tremendous achievement. His experience, leadership, and deep knowledge of infrastructure delivery will be an asset to the Academy and its work across the country.”

“I am deeply honored to join this distinguished group of industry leaders. The depth of knowledge and experience represented by the National Academy of Construction is extraordinary,” said Undersecretary of Transportation and State Highway Administrator Jonathan Gulliver. “The Academy brings together industry professionals whose work has had a lasting impact on infrastructure that improves safety and mobility, supports commerce, and connects people to housing, jobs, education, and opportunity. It is a distinct honor to be elected by my peers to this esteemed organization.”

The induction ceremony took place at the National Academy of Construction’s Annual Members Meeting held on September 25-27, 2026, in Nashville, Tennessee.
