Press Release  Mathews enters a not guilty plea on a drug charge

PITTSFIELD — A Pittsfield man was arraigned this morning in Berkshire Superior Court on a drug charge.  29 year old JOSEPH E. MATHEWS (312 South Street) appeared before Judge Daniel Ford.    

MATHEWS had a not guilty plea entered on his behalf on one (1) count of POSSESSION OF HEROIN WITH INTENT TOI DISTRIBUTE (2^nd offense).  Judge Ford ordered that he be held at the Berkshire County House of Correction on $2,500 bail. 

The charge stems from a motor vehicle stop in Pittsfield on March 8, 2018.      

The investigation was conducted by members of the Pittsfield Police Department, the Berkshire County Sheriff’s Department and State Troopers assigned to the District Attorney’s Office, members of the Berkshire Law Enforcement Task Force.
