PITTSFIELDAn Adams woman was arraigned this afternoon in Northern Berkshire District Court on several charges.  57 year old DEBRA M. MILESI (19 Jordan Street) appeared before Judge William Rota.

MILESI had not guilty pleas entered on her behalf on one (1) count of LEAVING THE SCENE OF A PERSONAL INJURY ACCIDENT RESULTING IN DEATH, one (1) count of MOTOR VEHICLE HOMICIDE WHILE UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL and one (1) count of NEGLIGENT OPERATION OF A MOTOR VEHICLE.  Judge Rota released her on $1,000 bail on the condition MILESI wear a GPS monitor, remain under 24 hour house arrest, not drive a motor vehicle and not leave the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.  She will be back in Court for a pre-trial hearing on October 29, 2018.

It is alleged MILESI was operating a motor vehicle in Adams on September 29, 2018 when she struck 38 year old Jerome Berard.  Berard, a North Adams resident, was transported to Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield for treatment of his injuries.  He died on October 7, 2018.

The investigation was conducted by members of the Adams Police Department with assistance from state police detectives assigned to the District Attorney’s Office and the Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and Crime Scene Service Section of the state police.
