Salem, MassachusettsAn Essex County Grand Jury today returned 10 indictments alleging that a youth hockey coach sexually assaulted six boys under the age of 14 in Marblehead and Peabody The bulk of the conduct occurred between January 1, 2017 and February 5, 2018.

Christopher Prew, 31, of Winthrop was indicted on 9 counts of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14 and 1 count of attempted indecent assault & battery on a child under 14.  He is expected to be arraigned on the new indictments tomorrow (March 23rd) in Salem Superior Court.  Mr. Prew remains held without bail at the Middleton House of Correction.

His mother, Louise Martino, 55, of Winthrop was also indicted for intimidation of a witness.  Her arraignment has not been scheduled.

Mr. Prew has now been indicted for sexually assaulting seven boys under 14 in Essex County.  The case remains under investigation. 

Indictments are allegations.  Mr. Prew is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
