Motor Vehicle Inspections Available In Massachusetts as of Wednesday, July 24

Registry reports most inspection station site workstations are now operable 

Vehicle owners who need re-tests on failed inspections will be given more time to get them

BOSTON - The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) is announcing motor vehicle inspections will resume in Massachusetts on Wednesday, July 24, following the global outage on Friday, July 19.  The Registry continues to coordinate with its vendor, OPUS, and inspection sites with remaining issues.  Meanwhile, the RMV is giving vehicle owners who need re-tests on failed inspections more time to get them.   Please note the following information from the RMV:

  • The Registry is announcing motor vehicle inspections will resume in Massachusetts as of Wednesday, July 24.  Visit mavehiclecheck.com for a station near you.
  • The Registry is granting additional time to get retests for vehicle owners with failed motor vehicle inspections prior to July 19.  The Registry will extend anyone whose reinspection date expired between 7/19/2024 through 7/31/2024 until 8/10/2024 for their free re-inspection.
  • Motorcycle owners have been able to get an inspection for the last several days.
