News  MPS observers Pretrial, Probation, and Parole Supervision Week

The Massachusetts Probation Service (MPS), the nation’s first Probation Service, is joining the more than 90,000 community corrections officers across the country in observing national Pretrial, Probation, and Parole Supervision (PPPS) Week 2026, July 19-25. This celebration is set by the American Probation and Parole Association (APPA).

The concept for Probation was first introduced 186 years ago by John Augustus, also known as "the father of Probation."

This year's theme is "Connected for Change: Building Bridges in Supervision." MPS, a second chance agency, is active in the community and works diligently to provide clients with important resources to help them succeed and improve their lives.

These services include education and job training and placement, housing, access to health care through MassHealth enrollment, and basic necessities such as food, clothing, and supplies through drives hosted by MPS employees.
