Members of the Massachusetts Probation Service’s Pretrial Unit joined together Wednesday to sort donated clothing by size for children and families as volunteers for the non-profit Cradles to Crayons Boston.

Pretrial staff spent several hours Wednesday sorting clothing from assorted bins— filling up more than 200 bags of items for distribution.

“We were happy to come together as a unit to participate in this charitable giving effort that will benefit hundreds of children and their families,” said Dr. Carmen Gomez, Deputy Commissioner-Pretrial Services.

Cradles to Crayons’ mission is to “end clothing insecurity,” according to its website which also states that 20 million children across the US lack access to affordable, appropriate clothing.

The Pretrial Service Unit includes: Dr. Gomez; Jameson Dorrine, Pretrial Services Operations Coordinator; Natalie Lorenti, Pretrial Administrator; Mahlet Kebede, Administrative Secretary; Donna Wilson, Pretrial Services Operations Coordinator; Shawnta Reid, Pretrial Services Operations Coordinator; Edward Colon, Pretrial Services Operations Coordinator; and Daniel Klein, Pretrial Services Operations Coordinator.
