PITTSFIELDA Sheffield man was arraigned this afternoon in Berkshire Superior Court on several charges.  29 year old FREDERICK J. MURNANE (684 North Main Street) appeared before Judge John Agostini.     

MURNANE had not guilty pleas entered on his behalf on one (1) count of BURNING A DWELLING HOUSE and two (2) counts of CRUELTY TO ANIMALS.  Judge Agostini released him on personal recognizance.           

It is alleged MURNANE set fire to a home he owned in Becket (28 Becket West Road) on August 28, 2018.  Two cats who were inside the home died as a result of the fire.       

The investigation was conducted by state troopers assigned to the Office of the Fire Marshal.
