As General Counsel, Ms. Pomponio will oversee the Legal Unit where she will provide legal support to the Probation Commissioner, the agency, and its employees. She will be a member of the Probation executive and senior management teams and assist in the development of policy, legislative and litigation strategy, administrative goals, and initiatives. Ms. Pomponio is filling a position formerly held by Haverhill District Court Judge Sarah Joss.
Prior to her appointment as General Counsel, Ms. Pomponio served as Deputy Legal Counsel at MPS. She also held the position of Administrative Attorney at MPS after being hired by the Massachusetts Trial Court in 2015. Pomponio also worked as a Prosecuting Counsel for four years at the Division of Professional Licensure as well as an Assistant District Attorney in the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office.

Pomponio earned a bachelor’s degree in Philosophy in 2004 from Boston University and a Juris Doctorate in 2007 from Boston University School of Law (BUSL). She is active in several organizations including the Massachusetts Bar Association, where she served as co-chair of the Criminal Justice Section Council, and advising programs with BUSL and the SJC’s Committee on Lawyer Well-Being. Pomponio is also a contributing author to the Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education’s publication, The Massachusetts Criminal Law Sourcebook and Citator, for its chapter on Probation.
