The food drive will run through June 17th.
Collection boxes have been set up at Northern Berkshire District Court, 111 Holden Street, in North Adams. Court-users, court employees, and members of the general public are welcome to participate by dropping off non-perishable food items.
“The courts and probation are part of the community and as neighbors we want to make sure that we address the needs of people living here. Coordinating this food drive is something we we wanted to do to give back and help those who are food insecure,” said Chief Donald Wright.
The following is a list of the most needed items:
- Ground regular coffee
- Vegetable stock
- Canned Black Beans
- 64 oz. juice
- Biscuit mix
- Chicken stock
- Canned Kidney beans
- Olive oil
- Beef stock
- Lemon juice
- Diced tomatoes
- Canned Chickpeas
Gift cards and certificates may be dropped off to the Probation Department.
“The Berkshire Food Project seeks to alleviate hunger, food insecurity, and social isolation by serving healthy, no cost meals and connecting people to other resources, all in a dignified and respectful manner.” The Food Project is open Monday through Friday, from 11:30 am to 1 pm, for a hot, nutritious meal, according to the Food Project’s website..
