News  Notice - Practice XXXV of the Uniform Practices of the Probate and Family Court Department

On August 1, 2018, Practice XXXV of the Uniform Practices of the Probate and Family Court Department, titled, “Change of Name Actions”, will take effect. Practice XXXV (hereinafter, “the Practice”) may be found at: https://www.mass.gov/law-library/massachusetts-uniform-probate-and-family-court-practices

The overall purpose of the Practice is to clarify procedural omissions in the controlling statute, G. L. c. 210, § 12 et seq. Prior drafts of the Practice were circulated for comment. Thank you to those of you who shared your input.

The current forms for change of name actions in the Probate and Family Court are scheduled to be replaced with substantially revised, reformatted, and renumbered versions, effective 7/20/2018. See list of new and revised forms.
