PITTSFIELDThe Berkshire District Attorney’s Office secured a guilty plea from one of three men involved in the killing of 34-year-old William Catalano.

Anthony Boone,23, of Pittsfield pled guilty to a single count of manslaughter in Berkshire Superior Court on Monday for his role in the October 15, 2018 assault and stabbing of Catalano. Boone is not believed to have stabbed Catalano but was part of the assault.

Judge John Agostini sentenced him to 12 to 15 years at the Massachusetts Correctional Institution at Cedar Junction.

The cases against co-defendants Jason Sefton and Bruce Romano are still pending.

“I offer my heartfelt condolences to those who loved William Catalano. Mr. Boone’s role in this brutal homicide took the life of a young father, friend, and member of our community,” District Attorney Andrea Harrington said. “Nothing will bring Mr. Catalano back, but we hope that Mr. Boone’s accepting responsibility for his actions brings some small measure of comfort to Mr. Catalano’s family.”

First Assistant District Attorney Karen Bell prosecuted the case.

The Pittsfield Police Department, with assistance from the State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Berkshire District Attorney’s Office, the State Police Crime Scene Services Section, Forensic Scientists from the Crime Laboratory, and the Berkshire County Sheriff’s Department investigated the case.
