On June 3, 2025, Project Healing Waters partnered with VA Boston Healthcare System to host a hands-on fly tie fishing workshop for veterans at the Brockton VA Campus. The volunteer-led event provided all the materials and one-on-one instruction, guiding participants through the process of creating fly-tie lures designed to attract fish.
VA Recreation Therapy supported the workshop and helped promote it to both inpatients and outpatients, ensuring a welcoming and engaging experience for all who attended. The session blended creativity, skill-building, and camaraderie, offering veterans a relaxing and rewarding way to connect.
The success of the workshop has inspired plans to hold it on the first Tuesday of every month, with hopes of taking the group out to the VA pond in the future for a full fishing experience.
