On May 3, 2025, American Legion Post 86 First Vice Commander Pete and his wife Josephine joined the Quincy Lions Club for their annual maintenance of the historic Quincy Sailors Cemetery. This volunteer tradition preserves the final resting place of sailors from the Grand Army, including a Medal of Honor recipient.

Volunteers worked together to care for the grounds so the cemetery continues to stand as a place of dignity and remembrance. Their efforts honored the memory of those who served and safeguarded the history of the heroes laid to rest there.

The cleanup reflected the community’s commitment to honoring the sacrifices of past generations and protecting these hallowed grounds for years to come.
