Media Contact for Roy pleads guilty, sent to jail and placed on probation

PITTSFIELD (or wherever is appropriate) — A Pittsfield woman pleaded guilty this morning in Berkshire Superior Court. 29 year old CHELSEY JAN ROY a/k/a CHELSEY J. ROY appeared before Judge John Agostini.
ROY pleaded guilty to one (1) count of RECKLESS ENDANGERMENT OF A CHILD and one (1) count of ASSAULT AND BATTERY BY MEANS OF A DANGEROUS WEAPON ON A CHILD. Judge Agostini ordered that she serve 1 year of a 2 year sentence to the Western Massachusetts Woman’s Correctional Center. ROY was also placed on probation for 2 years.
The incidents involved a child who was 11 months old at the time and occurred in North Adams between September 1, 2014 and October 5, 2014.
One (1) count of ASSAULT AND BATTERY UPON A CHILD WITH INJURY and one (1) count of ASSAULT AND BATTERY UPON A CHILD were dismissed at the request of the Commonwealth.
The investigation was conducted by State Police detectives assigned to the District Attorney’s Office and the North Adams Police Department.
