PITTSFIELDShots were fired during the execution of a search warrant in Pittsfield this morning, but no one was injured.

Berkshire District Attorney Paul J. Caccaviello says at 9:50 a.m. members of the Berkshire Law Enforcement Task Force executed a search warrant at 39 West Housatonic Street as a result of an on-going investigation into illegal drug activity.  Upon entering the residence and announcing that police officers were serving a search warrant, the suspect appeared with a handgun and pointed it at officers, two of whom discharged their weapons in response to the suspects’ assaultive behavior.  No one was struck and the suspect was taken into custody.

23 year old MARCEL H. TEIXEIRA-INGRAM, JR. (39 West Housatonic Street) was charged with one (1) count of ARMED ASSAULT WITH INTENT TO MURDER, one (1) count of ILLEGAL POSSESSION OF A FIREARM, one (1) count of ARMED CAREER FELON IN POSSESSION OF A FIREARM and one (1) count of ASSAULT WITH A DANGEROUS WEAPON TO WIT A FIREARM.  He is being held at the Berkshire County House of Correction and will be arraigned Monday morning in Central Berkshire District Court.  Additional charges may be brought as the investigation continues.

The investigation is being conducted by state police detectives assigned to the District Attorney’s Office, the Massachusetts State Police Crime Scene Services and Ballistics Sections, members of the Pittsfield and Dalton Police Departments and the Berkshire County Sheriff’s Department.
