Boston, MA — Executive Office of Veterans’ Services Secretary Jon Santiago visited with Vincent Ng, Director of the VA Boston Healthcare system on Tuesday to discuss shared priorities in supporting the health of veterans. Secretary Santiago also met with the facility’s clinical team, toured the campus to discuss the care provided by the Boston VA Healthcare System, and expressed his strong support for their efforts to deliver quality healthcare to veterans across Massachusetts.
“As our veteran population evolves and their medical needs become more complex, it is imperative that they have access to quality care. I am grateful to Director Ng for providing a firsthand look at his and his team’s dedicated work. I appreciate their commitment to providing critical primary care, specialty, and emergency care services to our veterans,” said Secretary Santiago. “The Boston VA Healthcare System team is a trusted partner that is deeply committed to the mission of veteran care, guided by the needs of veterans, their families, and caregivers.”
The West Roxbury campus of the VA Boston Healthcare System provides primary care and specialty services, including a 24-hour emergency department, surgery, physical therapy and more. The campus also hosts a nationally recognized acute Spinal Cord Injury program and is one of the few facilities with a CARF-accredited acute rehabilitation program. In addition, the facility serves as the regional referral center for intensive inpatient surgery, including vascular surgery, specialized general and cancer-related surgery, orthopedics, hand and joint replacement surgery, plastic surgery, and urology.
“We welcome the unique perspective Secretary Santiago brings as a physician and a veteran who is still serving in the Army Reserve,” said Vincent Ng, director of the VA Boston Healthcare System. “The close collaboration between VA and the Massachusetts Executive Office of Veterans’ Services is critical to ensuring Veterans in the commonwealth receive the care and benefits they have earned, and I look forward to working with someone who has dedicated his life in service to both our nation and public health.”
