PITTSFIELD — A Pittsfield man was arraigned this morning in Central Berkshire District Court on a murder charge. 20 year old JASON P. SEFTON (23 Lake Street) appeared before Judge Jennifer Tyne.
SEFTON entered a not guilty plea on one (1) count of MURDER. Judge Tyne ordered that he be held at the Berkshire County House of Correction without the right to bail. SEFTON will be back in Court on November 16, 2018 for a status conference.
It is alleged SEFTON stabbed and beat 34 year old William Catalano on Robbins Avenue in Pittsfield on October 15, 2018.
SEFTON was arrested this morning at Central Berkshire District Court about 9:30. He turned himself in in response to a warrant for his arrest that was issued last week.
The investigation is being conducted by members of the Pittsfield Police Department with assistance from State Police Detectives assigned to the District Attorney’s Office, the State Police Crime Scene Services Section, Forensic Scientists from the Crime Laboratory and the Berkshire County Sheriff’s Department.
