PittsfieldA Pittsfield man was arraigned this morning in Central Berkshire District Court.  34 year old SHANE SMITH appeared before Judge Mark Pasquariello.

SMITH had a not guilty plea entered on his behalf on one (1) count of PROVIDING MISLEADING INFORMATION TO A POLICE OFFICER.  Judge Pasquariello ordered that he be held at the Berkshire County House of Correction on $3,000 bail.  He will be back in Court for a pre-trial hearing on November 15, 2018.

It is alleged that SMITH provided misleading information to investigators in the on-going investigation into the death of 34 year old William Catalano.

The investigation is being conducted by members of the Pittsfield Police Department with assistance from State Police Detectives assigned to the District Attorney’s Office, the State Police Crime Scene Services Section, Forensic Scientists from the Crime Laboratory and the Berkshire County Sheriff’s Department.
