Somerville District Court Probation staff have been busy engaging with the community. The employees teamed up with the Somerville Police Department, Somerville Housing Authority, and the Mystic Learning Center for the 5th Annual Community Unity Basketball game to host the Community Unity Basketball Game on June 5th.

“We came together to join in on a friendly basketball game to promote social justice and stimulate a positive community vibe between the youth/teens/young adults and local community partners,” said Jessica Grassia, Somerville District Court Assistant Chief Probation Officer.

Somerville District Probation staff also broke bread with clients and staff on May 27th at the CASPAR HOUSE where they provided pizza and hygiene products for residents of CASPAR House, a local men’s residential program in Somerville.

“Oftentimes, men enter the program without having the essentials, such as toothbrushes, deodorant etc. The clients were very grateful for the donations and the pizzas!,” said ACPO Grassia.

Children from the Mystic Valley Learning Center recently thanked Somerville District Probation staff for their volunteerism, including a Puma sneaker donation staff helped facilitate with the footwear company which donated the shoes.

The staff also assisted with a food drive conducted by the Somerville Housing Authority. Staff filled bags with ingredients to make a Thanksgiving meal as part of the authority’s 2024 Thanksgiving Food Drive.
