Keison Harry, Assistant Chief Probation Officer at the Roxbury Division of the Boston Municipal Court, joined with State Police Captain Tony Dear, Commander of the Department's Recruitment and Diversity Office, and Lt. Sean Newman, Commander of the Government Center Barracks, to present the Massachusetts Probation Service's Executive Team with two framed jerseys from this year's 10th Annual Boston Strong Invitational. The Invitational, held at the Reggie Lewis State Track Athletic Center and hosted by the Massachusetts State Police, is a two-day basketball tournament and sporting event.
"Massachusetts Probation's support of the event has helped further the mission of the MSP's Unity Basketball League, which connects youths from across the state with law enforcement officers for mentoring and bonding opportunities," said State Police Captain Dear.
The Invitational brings Probation, first responders, law enforcement, youth, and local communities together to commemorate the lives lost during the Boston Marathon tragedy. This year's event, held in August, featured track events and races with Special Olympics athletes.
“It is an event that brings everyone together," said Mr. Harry who has served as an organizer of the Probation team and volunteered for the past five years.
In addition to Coach Harry, the MPS team featured Essex Probate & Family Associate Court Officer Juan Garcia; Worcester District Probation Officer Horace Blue; Bristol Juvenile Probation Officer Chris Fernandes; Lawrence District Probation Officer Eliecer Reyes; and Suffolk Juvenile PO Jeff McNair. ACPO Harry volunteers to officiates games and mentors children in the State Police's TEAM Unity Basketball Leagues.
"I want to congratulate our MPS colleagues who participated in the Boston Invitational and attended in support of the team," said Acting Commissioner Dianne Fasano." I would also like to acknowledge ACPO Keison Harry for coordinating and coaching the MPS team for the past five years and for the impactful work he does with youth in the community as a referee and volunteer who officiates games and mentors children in basketball leagues."
MPS' Executive Team includes Acting Probation Commissioner Fasano; Brian Mirasolo, Deputy-Field Services; Pamerson Ifill, Deputy-Pretrial Services; Nina Pomponio, General Counsel; Yvonne Roland, Deputy-Administrative Services; and Michael Coelho, Deputy-Programs.
