Boston — Governor Maura Healey today issued the following statement in response to the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision upholding access to mifepristone:

“Today’s decision is an important victory for the health and wellbeing of women across the country. Mifepristone is a safe, effective and essential medication that has been used for decades, and it will continue to be available through telehealth.

While this ruling provides some relief, it is only temporary and we know that attacks on reproductive freedom are far from over, including in this case. President Trump and his allies will continue to target abortion access and threaten the ability of women to make their own health care decisions.

In Massachusetts, we will keep protecting access to reproductive health care, including medication abortion and telehealth services. Women deserve the freedom to make their own decisions about their bodies and their futures, and we will never stop fighting to protect that right.”
