Swampscott, MA — A Swampscott chiropractor accused of indecently assaulting a patient during an appointment was arraigned in Peabody District Court today after turning himself in on an arrest warrant.
Dr. Ilan S. Amar, owner of A Touch of Health at 444 Humphrey Street in Swampscott, was arraigned on Indecent Assault & Battery and Assault & Battery. Judge Matthew Nestor released the defendant on personal recognizance and ordered him to stay away from and have no contact with the victim and not to practice chiropractic medicine. The case is scheduled for a pre-trial hearing on March 8, 2023.
Essex Assistant District Attorney Gina Del Rio Gazzo requested $10,000 cash bail, stating that on December 5, 2022, a 31-year-old female reported to police that Dr. Amar allegedly indecently assaulted her during a treatment session. Judge Nestor allowed ADA Del Rio Gazzo’s motion to impound the police report.
The defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty. He is represented by Attorney Michelle Peirce.
