Press Release  Swift pleads guilty, sent to jail

PITTSFIELDA Pittsfield man pleaded guilty this afternoon in Berkshire Superior Court to several charges.  57 year old JAMES SWIFT appeared before Judge John Agostini. 

SWIFT pleaded guilty to one (1) count of ASSAULT AND BATTERY ON A DISABLED PERSON and one (1) count of CARETAKER ABUSE ON A DISABLED PERSON.  Judge Agostini gave him concurrent 6 month sentences at the Berkshire County House of Correction.        

SWIFT, while employed by the Eagleton School, assaulted a student.  The incident occurred on January 1, 2016.     

The investigation was conducted by members of the Great Barrington Police Department and state police detectives assigned to the District Attorney’s Office.
