PittsfieldA Pittsfield man was arraigned this afternoon in Berkshire Superior Court on firearm charges.  32 year old MATHEW J. SYLVIA (204 Linden Street) appeared before Judge Daniel Ford. 

SYLVIA had not guilty plea entered on his behalf on nine (9) counts of ILLEGAL OWNERSHIP OF A FIREARM, RIFLE OR SHOTGUN, seven (7) counts of ILLEGAL POSSESSION OF A LARGE CAPACITY FEEDING DEVICE, one (1) count of IMPROPER STORAGE OF A FIREARM, RIFLE OR SHOTGUN, one (1) count of POSSESSION OF AMMUNITION WITHOUT A FIREARM IDENTIFICATION CARD and one (1) count of ATTEMPT TO COMMIT A CRIME, TO WIT: POSSESSION OF AMMUNITION WITHOUT A FIREARM IDENTIFICATION CARD.  Judge Ford ordered that he be held at the Berkshire County House of Correction on $75,000 bail. 

The charges stem from the execution of a search warrant at SYLVIA’S home on October 19, 2018. 

The investigation was conducted by members of the Pittsfield Police Department, state troopers assigned to the District Attorney’s Office and the Berkshire County Sheriff’s Department, members of the Berkshire Law Enforcement Task Force.
