Four court-involved individuals will celebrate their sobriety journey and completion of Recovery Court and probation before a courtroom of friends, family, and local and court leaders at the Edgartown Recovery Court Graduation on Wednesday, May 14, at noon. This inaugural event will be held at the court located at 81 Main Street in Edgartown.

The Edgartown Recovery Court opened in 2024 and is one of 31 Recovery Courts across the Commonwealth. Recovery Courts aim to reduce recidivism by assisting individuals with substance use disorders and addressing their underlying challenges.

The Recovery Court Team includes team:

  • Presiding Justice Benjamin Barnes
  • Olga Valach, Probation Officer
  • Kelly Mccaron, Recovery Court clinician
  • Jessica Haggerty, Assistant Chief Probation Officer

Probation is a key component of the program. Probation Officers ensure court-ordered supervision and participant accountability. The program involves intensive supervision, regular court appearances, and includes conditions such as drug testing, treatment, and counseling as well as assistance with connecting participants to community resources such as sober and re-entry housing, access to behavioral health services, and enrollment with MassHealth.
