The Boston Business Journal named OSD Marketing Coordinator, Layla Palmer, to its prestigious BostonInno 25 Under 25 list, recognizing her as a standout young innovator in the region. Celebrated for her creative efforts in podcasting and communications, Layla has played a key role in transforming how OSD shares its stories. Her work reflects an engaging approach to government outreach, blending multimedia formats with authentic storytelling.

Layla first joined the Commonwealth in the summer of 2022 as an intern, where she helped launch OSD’s podcast channel, WOSD News. Stepping into the full-time role of Marketing Coordinator this past May, Layla continues to manage the WOSD News podcast initiative and takes on an assortment of Marketing and Training projects.

“I made my very first podcast at 15, and never imagined the small hobby I started in my bedroom would blossom into such a passion and a career dedicated to audio,” said Layla. “Thank you to everyone who has supported me on this journey.”

Beyond her work at OSD, the Boston Business Journal praised Layla’s personal podcast series, Heart to Hustle, where she interviews people about their interesting and unique career paths. “In my personal podcast projects and with WOSD News, the best part is speaking with interesting people and finding their storytelling opportunities,” said Layla.

Layla recently created a podcast in collaboration with the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) to recognize Emergency Preparedness Month in September. For this episode, she sat down with Rich LaTour, MEMA’s Assistant Director of Operations, to discuss how MEMA navigates the procurement side of emergencies, including the activation of MEMA-managed Statewide Contracts to assist with debris monitoring and management.
