PITTSFIELD — A Pittsfield man pleaded guilty this afternoon in Berkshire Superior Court to several charges. 37 year old BILLY JOE TWING appeared before Judge John Agostini.
TWING pleaded guilty to one (1) count of TRAFFICKING IN FENTANYL, one (1) count of RESISTING ARREST, one (1) count of FAILURE TO STOP FOR A POLICE OFFICER and one (1) count of OPERATING A MOTOR VEHICLE WITH A SUSPENDED LICENSE. Judge Agostini ordered that he serve a 2 and a half to 3 year state prison sentence at the Massachusetts Correctional Institution at Cedar Junction on the TRAFFICKING charge. TWING was given concurrent house of correction time on the charges of RESISTING ARREST and OPERATING A MOTOR VEHICLE WITH A SUSPENDED LICENSE. The other charge was placed on file.
The charges stem from a motor vehicle stop in Pittsfield on March 26, 2016.
One (1) count of POSSESSION OF FENTANYL WITH INTENT TO DISTRIBUTE (2nd offense) and one (1) count of POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA WITH INTENT TO DISTRIBUTE (2nd offense) were dismissed at the request of the Commonwealth.
The investigation was conducted by State Troopers assigned to the Cheshire barracks.
