PittsfieldA Pittsfield man pleaded guilty this afternoon in Berkshire Superior Court to drug charges.  52 year old MARK A. WELCH appeared before Judge John Agostini. 

WELCH pleaded guilty to one (1) count of POSSESSION OF HEROIN WITH INTENT TO DISTRIBUTE, one (1) count of CONSPIRACY TO VIOLATE DRUG LAWS, TO WIT: POSSESSION OF HEROIN WITH INTENT TO DISTRIBUTE and one (1) count of POSSESSION OF COCAINE. Judge Agostini placed him on 1 year probation on the condition WELCH refrain from using drugs and alcohol during the probationary period.      

The charges stem from a motor vehicle stop in Lee on October 10, 2017.       

The investigation was conducted by members of the Dalton and Lee Police Departments, the Berkshire County Sheriff’s Office and state troopers assigned to the District Attorney’s Office, members of the Berkshire Law Enforcement Task Force.
