PITTSFIELDA Pittsfield man pleaded guilty this afternoon in Berkshire Superior Court to drug charges. 33 year old BRIAN A. WHITTAKER appeared before Judge Daniel Ford.

WHITTAKER pleaded guilty to one (1) count of POSSESSION OF HEROIN WITH INTENT TO DISTRIBUTE, one (1) count of CONSPIRACY TO VIOLATE DRUG LAWS, TO WIT: DISTRIBUTION OF HEROIN and one (1) count of POSSESSION OF COCAINE. Judge Ford ordered that he serve concurrent 3 to 4 year state prison sentences at the Massachusetts Correctional Institution at Cedar Junction on the charges of POSSESSION OF HEROIN WITH INTENT TO DISTRIBUTE and CONSPIRACY TO VIOLATE DRUG LAWS, TO WIT: DISTRIBUTION OF HEROIN. WHITTAKER was given a concurrent 10 day house of correction sentence on the POSSESSION OF COCAINE charge. He will begin serving his sentence on January 8, 2018.

The charges stem from a motor vehicle stop in Pittsfield on July 25, 2016.

The investigation was conducted by members of the Dalton Police Department, the Berkshire County Sheriff’s Department and state troopers assigned to the District Attorney’s Office, members of the Berkshire Law Enforcement Task Force.
