Press Release  Wisconsin Man Arraigned on Assault to Murder Charges

Salem, Massachusetts — Jonathan Alequin, 27, of LaCrosse, Wisconsin was arraigned today in Salem District Court on 2 counts of assault with intent to murder, carrying a firearm without a license and discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building, in connection with a shooting at the Knights Inn in Danvers early this morning.  Judge Michael Lauranzano ordered him held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing scheduled for Friday, September 19th.

Essex Assistant District Attorney Patrick Collins told the court that at approximately 12:02 this morning, Danvers Police were dispatched to the Knights Inn at 225 Newbury Street in Danvers for a reported shooting with two victims.  The defendant allegedly shot two men that he had met earlier in the evening who were also staying at the hotel.  The 35- and 49-year old men from Tennessee were transported to Beverly Hospital with non-life threatening gunshot wounds.

The defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
