It is April: National Second Chance Month and the Worcester Community Justice Support Center, one of 18 centers, will host the first of a spring series of Recognition Ceremonies to be held at centers across the state through June. The Worcester event, located at 365 Main Street, is Wednesday, April 8th, at 1 p.m..
The ceremonies are held each year to acknowledge the milestones and achievements of center participants which include: program completion, maintaining sobriety, earning the Hi-Set (GED) degree, and finding and maintaining employment. Support Center clients participate in treatment, education, career counseling, and case management support.
“The recognition ceremonies are the reason we work so hard for the people that come to the support center. When people can return to their family and friends with a new sense of purpose in their life, their communities are safer and stronger. Nothing makes that impact clearer than seeing the tears of joy that are shed at these events,” said Vincent Lorenti, OCC Executive Director.
The centers are overseen by the Office of Community Corrections, a division of the Massachusetts Probation Service.
