Licensing requirements for company wishing to permit credit card customers to charge their insurance premiums

Mass. Gen. Laws chapter 255C and its implementing regulation 209 CMR 20.00 et seq. require certain insurance premium finance agencies to be licensed by the Division. It is the Division's opinion that the use of a credit card issued for the general purpose of purchasing goods or services does not result in the creation of a "premium finance agreement" as defined in M.G.L. 255C § 1 and, thus, does not trigger the statute's licensing provisions.
