Responsibilities
The mission of the Women Veterans Network (WVN) is to empower women veterans by ensuring their voices are heard, their contributions acknowledged, and their well-being enhanced through education, advocacy, and collaboration.
In the spirit of the WVN’s mission, the WVN Collaborative will share information, advocate for the needs of women veterans’ and support major programming (The annual WVN Conference and Women Veterans Recognition Day). Collaborative members are an essential part of the Women Veterans Network through their assistance and insight that aide the WVN in providing robust programming and services to women veterans of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
The knowledge and time of Collaborative members are extremely valuable in helping the WVN to make connections with women veterans of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and to achieve the goals laid out in its mission, vision, and values.
The roles and responsibilities of the WVN Collaborative members are:
- Membership in the Collaborative is not compensated. Members participate in the WVN Collaborative to provide leadership and support to the mission of the Women Veterans Network and not for financial gain.
- Collaborative members are asked to attend quarterly meetings (January, April, July, October) on the 2nd Friday.
- Each year, the Women Veterans Network hosts two major events: The Women Veterans Network Recognition Conference and the Deborah Sampson Award (honored on Women Veterans Appreciation Day) which is given to an outstanding woman veteran. The WVN asks that Collaborative members make every effort to participate in these events. The Director may approve additional meetings of the WVN Collaborative leading up to the events.
- Use of the Women Veterans Network logo or materials must be authorized by the Secretary of Veterans Services through the Women Veterans Network Director prior to use in any fashion.
