The Regulatory Advisory Committee advises and makes recommendations to the Registry of Vital Records and Statistics related to the Code of Massachusetts Regulations, 105 CMR 305.

About the Regulatory Advisory Committee

The statutory language establishing a Regulatory Advisory Committee within the Registry of Vital Records and Statistics can be found in Section 4 of Chapter 17 of the Massachusetts General Laws. The committee advises on the promulgation of regulations to insure the uniform administration of all laws relative to the registry and return of births, marriages, and deaths. 

The statutory language specifies that membership should of the committee should consist of:

  • The Registrar of the Registry of Vital Records and Statistics
  • Four members who are local clerks
  • One member who is a genealogist
  • One member who is a historian
