BOARD POLICY
ADJUSTMENT AND REPLACEMENT OF GAS CONTROLS
(enacted 08-06-2014)
1. Introduction
The Board of State Examiners of Plumbers and Gas Fitters (“Board”) has voted to adopt a policy relative to 248 CMR, Section 3.05 (1) (c) 3 stating:
A permit is not required for the adjusting of gas appliance controls when said adjustment does not require any changes to the connection to the gas supply associated piping.
2. Policy
A permit shall not be required for simple disconnecting and reconnecting a gas appliance for the sole purpose of alteration, repair or replacement gas controls after the main control valve for said appliance.
3. Rationale
If there are not any changes made to the piping outside of simply disconnect and reconnecting the gas, there is no need for a gas permit.
