Rest Home Task Force

The Rest Home Task Force was established in 2024 with the enactment of Section 27 of Chapter 197 of the Acts of 2024: An Act to Improve Quality and Oversight of Long-term Care

The Task Force was responsible for evaluating the governance and regulatory structure of rest homes in the Commonwealth. The Task Force was chaired by Undersecretary Kiame Mahaniah, acting as the designee of the Secretary of Health and Human Services, and was comprised of a diverse panel of lawmakers, public health professionals, industry stakeholders, direct caregivers, and experts in health care administration and finance. The Task Force concluded its work with the submission of its report to the Legislature on April 1, 2025.
